What trauma-sensitive means

Trauma-sensitive means: it isn't the method that sets the pace, but your nervous system. You decide how deep you go, when you pause and whether touch takes place. If you are looking for trauma-sensitive coaching or trauma-sensitive support, you'll find a body-oriented path here: conscious, connected breathing.

The breath is the only function of the autonomic nervous system that we can consciously control. That is exactly where its power lies: it connects body, feeling and consciousness – and lets you feel that change is possible.

How we work

  • Preliminary talk – your intention, your experiences, your boundaries.
  • Clear structure – arriving, breathing phase, silence, integration.
  • Freedom of choice – you can breathe more slowly, open your eyes or pause at any time.
  • Small groups – no more than five participants, so that every person is seen.
  • Integration – time to settle and make sense of things, so that what you experienced arrives in everyday life.

Breathwork and trauma experiences

Many people with trauma experiences find that talking alone doesn't reach everything. The body remembers differently from the mind (van der Kolk, 2014). Breathwork opens an access through the body: tension can release, feelings can surface, and the nervous system experiences intensity followed by deep rest.

Breathwork combines beautifully with therapy. Many clients use the sessions alongside it to involve the body more. More background under Trauma Resources and on the Science page.

Self-help between sessions

For anyone who wants to explore trauma, C-PTSD and nervous system regulation in more depth, there is the free Trauma Course with an online community: videos, checklists and exchange with people who have been through similar things.
